For this arcade model, I challenged myself to only use the laser cutting manufacturing process. I also challenged myself to interweave form and function, making sure to always remain faithful in looks to the originals, while still maintaining usability in its functions.
Because of these design challenges, I chose to cad the entire cabinet before building it. For this, I used Solidworks and many of the techniques I learned throughout my first year of Engineering and Design to create the complex shape. A further challenge of this was the finger joints that required an assembly to insure that all of the many parts went together as intended.
I enjoyed this project alot because of how much I learned about electronics from my piers in the robotics lab. I distinctly remember telling my friend that I had "run out of grounds" only to learn that they can all be connected into one to plug into the arduino. This is a fond learning memory of mine and something we laugh about now.
Overall, I am very pleased with the result of this project. I learned a lot and evolved my CAD, Electrical, and Programing knowledge.
